Parental drop-off for all expeditions
Training Day: – Saturday 1 March, 9am – 3pm in school.
Practice Expedition: – 10am Saturday 29 March – 3pm Sunday 30 March 2025.

Qualifying Expedition: – 10am Saturday 31 May – 3pm Sunday 1 June 2025.

Qualifying Expedition: Parental drop-off at school. Travel by coach to and from location

Payment
Bronze:
£33.50 non-refundable deposit – King Edward VI School via ParentPay by 18 October 2024.
£195.00 to BXM. BXM will be in touch with an invoice by email in November 2024.
Total cost: £228.50
Silver:
£50.00 non-refundable deposit – King Edward VI School via ParentPay by 11 October 2024. (Deadline extended to 18 October 2024.)
£146.00 first instalment – King Edward VI School via ParentPay by Friday 17 January 2025.

Funding
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award offers the Resilience Fund designed to offer young people support to access the award. Details of the Resilience Fund can be found here.
BXM Outdoors
We have a long-standing relationship with BXM Outdoors who have a team of qualified outdoors instructors who lead our expeditions.
Evidencing activity
While participating in their activity evidence is required to show participation. This can be done by keeping a diary of what you’ve been doing, taking photos and uploading them on the DofE app, and then the main way, is by keeping an activity log. The activity log is an essential way of demonstrating participation. These can be found here:
Submitting an assessor’s report
An assessor’s report is required for the volunteering, physical and skills components when a young person has completed their required length of activity. This can be done in a few different ways. See here:

Parents information Teams meeting recording
If you were unable to attend the parents’ information Teams meeting regarding both the Bronze and Silver awards (for year 9 & 10 students respectively) on Thursday 26 September, you can watch back here. Mr Hepper presented the set up of DofE in the first half, while Ben Maxfield from BXM Outdoors gave further information about the training days and expeditions in the summer.
